Lorna Bateman Embroidered Pincushion – Winner!

Amazon Books

Last week, I had the pleasure of reviewing one of Lorna Bateman’s pretty embroidered pincushion kits and running a give-away for the same kit.

Today I’ll announce the winner (some lucky duck out there!) and add a little more information that I missed in my first review!

Lorna Bateman Embroidery Kits

This is the kit the winner will receive in the mail. It’s got everything you need to make this lovely beaded and embroidered pincushion, including the base and the filled form.

Did I mention that I love these pincushion bases? They’re made out of wood, they have adorable bun feet, and the cushion is already situated in the base – you just have to cover the cushion. I could see using them for all kinds of decorative pin cushions! Lorna has a whole bunch of pretty pincushion kits in her Etsy store and on her website. And you can buy the pincushion bases separately, too, in case you want to design your own prickly masterpiece.

Yep, I’m thinking my trusty ten-year-old tomato is going to get shoved into early retirement. Poor thing.

Anyway, Lorna has an Etsy shop, with costs listed in US dollars, which makes it much easier for US customers to order. I missed it myself, but now that I know, I thought I’d pass the information along to you. Much easier than doing currency conversions!

Pincushion Kit Winner

And now onto the winner, who was (as is always the case with give-aways) randomly drawn.

Sophie Marquez is the winner, and here’s her answer to the question, What’s your favorite embroidery technique?

It’s so hard to name a favorite. Mostly I do counted cross stitch but I just discovered goldwork last year and I’m totally into that right now doing a modern goldwork sampler with all kinds of goldwork threads in different colors. So far it’s my favorite thing I’ve ever stitched!

Actually, that sampler sounds like a ton of fun, Sophie – and I’m glad you discovered goldwork!

Please drop me a line with your mailing information and I’ll get your new pincushion kit off to you, just in time for Christmas.

Thanks to all for participating – it was fun to read your comments! I’d have a hard time picking an absolute favorite embroidery technique, too. I didn’t realize how difficult that question is, until I started reading your answers!

See you tomorrow!

  1. Dear Mary

Congratulations to Sophie I hope you enjoy this beautiful prize and a lovely Christmas win. Thanks Mary for the give-away that is so generous of you and I agree it’s difficult to pick an absolute favourite embroidery technique I love them all, although I haven’t tried every technique but working my through them.

  2. I am so sorry not to have won the pincushion kit.
However between the kit and your “Lavender Honey” book I am excited to have found something to do with my samplers, I am going to cut some of them up and make “little things” out of them for gifts.

    1. Hi, Sammy! I’m glad you have the Little Things to console you! They’re so much fun to make, and once you have the construction part down, it’s easy to whip them up – and to use your own design ideas in the process, which opens up unlimited possibilities!
