Acid-Free Felt?

Hello, I have a question about using felt for goldwork and embroidery in general.

I want to make sure my felt is acid-free as it will be placed under white silk and I don't want the silk to yellow with age.

Do any of you know if the craft polyester and/or acrylic felt at craft stores is acid-free? There is no indication on the packaging. A more expensive option is wool felt, but I can't find any information on whether or not that is acid-free either.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Acid-Free Felt?

I use wool felt. I've never had a problem with it, but 100 years haven't gone by yet, either. I don't know if there is an acid content in wool felt... My guess would be that there isn't, but as far as dyes go and the like, I don't really know. Anyone?

I know Tanja Berlin uses the same gold felt you do and that's what the RSN recommends.
