The Battery Park Gardens in New York City is the spectacular backdrop for the Hand & Lock 2011 Conference, “Embroidery in the New World”, overlooking the Statue of Liberty, and positioned 15 minutes from the Centre of Manhattan. We chose New York City as the 2011 destination, to celebrate the fact that Hand & Lock are expanding to America later in the year, soon to be the Hand & Lock Penn & Fletcher Embroidery Academy in New York.
The main event is Thursday 3rd November, and will feature talks by embroidery and fashion superstars (UK & USA), a prize giving ceremony and fashion catwalk showcasing the Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery 2011 winners' work – what a treat! There will be an Embroidery Academy Workshop on Friday 4th November where you can try taster lessons and learn about the techniques we use – this is a first come first served opportunity, and a great chance to mingle with embroiderers trained at the Royal School of Needlework.
Our speakers will include Hand & Lock’s chairman Alastair Macleod among other established and up-and-coming designers and embroiderers. Booking in advance is highly recommended. For a limited time, we are offering tickets at an early bird price of $105! After August 14 prices will go back to $145. For students and guild members the cost is $115, and group bookings of over 10 people will be $95 each!
