Pincusion

Good Morning, I am hoping to make a pincusion for a gift, but need a pattern or at least some information. What sort of fabric would be best and where would I get the grit that goes inside? I plan to embroider the entire cushion, so the stich is important also. Can anyone help? Greta

Re: Pincusion

Hi, Greta -

Well, I'm not sure about a pincushion pattern. You could always develop your own, or you could use the basic construction of a "biscornu" and make it into a pin cushion. The grit that goes inside is called Turkish emery (or just emery) - I think Bobbi Chase might sell the right emery for pincushions. She also have a nice kit for a strawberry emery which might be helpful. Here's her website: http://www.embellishmentsone.com/ There's also a seller on etsy that sells loose emery sand, here: http://www.etsy.com/people/LoveLaurie?ref=ls_profile

The stitch you use depends, I think, on your materials and design....

Hope that helps a little bit!
