Monogram for Hand Embroidery: Letter P

Amazon Books

Here’s the next monogram for hand embroidery – the letter P.

I’m still playing with these embroidery patterns in vector format. Has anyone tried printing them yet? Just curious – I (ahem) don’t have a printer right now! Bad situation, I know!

There are quite a few areas I’d like to straighten up on this, but anything that is too worbly, I think you can straighten up in the transfer… but if you think it’s just impossible, let me know! I neeeeeed to perfect this whole graphics thing!

Here’s the P – any feedback would be wonderfully appreciated!

  1. Hi Mary, just for you I have printed out a couple of the monograms, the C and the P, I think these were done with the 2 different programs. I would say there is very little to choose between the 2, the lines of the P are slightly finer and black (where as the C is a brownish colour) but a couple of small details may have been lost. On the C the outline of the character protrudes slightly into the serifs (are they still called that when they are round?) giving the impression of contour. This of course would be covered it you used satin stitch but might be desirable if you used an outline stitch.

Hope this is useful for you. Lovely monograms btw, I think I’ll use the C now I have printed it, but I may have to reduce it slightly/

  2. Hi, Carol Anne! Thanks for the information on the print quality!

I think both the P and the C were drawn as vectors – probably the pixel sizes of the lines were slightly different, and the C was done in a dark red, while the P was done in black. They may have been worked in different programs, as Margaret did the clean up on the C (I think she uses Corel Draw) and I did the P in Inkscape.

I’m glad to know they print out ok! Thanks for your comment.

I hope, by the way, that you get over your Post-Project-Depression soon!!!!!

    Best regards,
    Mary

  3. Hello Mary,

I think the monogram letters are great. I will be tracing them so it will depend more on my ability to follow the line !lol!

  4. Bonjour Mary, Lovely site – thank you. Love the monogramed alphabet. I am inspired by a friend and a sister-in-law’s embroidery and quilting and le voila! I am now hooked and learning to do embroidery. I am enjoying the peaceful feeling it gives me, even though I have a lot of other past times, this tactile hobby is rewarding. I think it’s improved my patience towards dressmaking, which I like more these days at 57.
    Cheers and good health, P.

    1. Hi, Terri – If you right click on it and save the image to your computer, you can print it. Then just trace it – you might enlarge it or reduce it to suit your needs…

    1. Hi, Connie – if you right click it, you can save it to your computer (or click and drag it to your desktop, depending on the top of computer you have). Then you can print it from there, the same way you print images from your computer. ~MC
