I learned to embroider when I was a kid, when everyone was really into cross stitch (remember the '80s?). Eventually, I migrated to surface embroidery, teaching myself with whatever I could get my hands on...read more

Thread Drop Winner!

Amazon Books

It was a lot of fun to read everyone’s organization tactics for their needlework threads! If you haven’t had a chance yet to read through the comments (there are 285 of them!) on the Thread Drop post from the other day, you might want to take a look at them for some good hints on thread organization – and for some chuckles, too! I think most avid stitchers can understand the difficulties of keeping things organized, especially when we’re really eager to stitch, and the clean-as-you-go theory just seems to get in the way!

Thread Drops for Embroidery Thread Organization

The winner of all three sets of Thread Drops – original drops, bunnies, and flip-flops – is barbobbi, who admits a bit of a haphazard approach to the whole thread thing! Congratulations!

Bobbi, drop me a line with your mailing address and I’ll get those out to you as soon as possible!

If you want to use Thread Drops to organize your needlework threads, ask for them at your local needlework shop!

  1. Congratulations barbobbi. This is the only contest I’ve seriously entered. I think you are so lucky to win and wish I could do the girly thing: jump up and down and give you a hug. Have fun with them. As for me, I’m getting in touch with my LNS this week and ask them to order some for me. I’m pretty sure they don’t carry them yet and I want to change that.

  2. Dear Mary
I’ve been through all the comments for the Thread drops but cannot find anywhere in the list barbobbi’s idea for organising threads – all I can find is her comment for her winning entry for the Crewel book in April.
Have I missed her entry for the Thread drops? All contributions to keeping a tidy space very welcome!

    1. Hi Gill – I think she’s around #37 on the first page of comments. There are three pages of comments there, so you have to go back to the first page, which has the first 99 comments on it. It’s kind of a weird way of numbering comments – later on, I might have some work done to change that, but for now, only 99 comments fit on a post!

  3. G’day Mary,

    And CONGRATULATIONS barbobbi.

Like Gill, I couldn’t find barbobbi’s comment. Gill’s comment is #35 but no barbobbi in the first 89 (that’s the limit that shows on one page on my computer).
It maybe a general problem or just mine, but I can’t get into the newer comments. It just keeps going back to the 1st page. I’ve never had that happen with the old blog.

Thanks for the competition Mary, Kath

    1. Sorry – it’s #36 on the first page of comments. If you hit “older comments,” on the page when you first go to it, that will take you to the “middle” page of comments, and then you have to hit “older comments” again to go to the first page of comments. Each page is numbered 1 – 99, and there are three pages total….

  4. G’day again Mary,

    Gotcha, thanks.
When #1 kept showing up I thought I was back to the begining but realise now it’s the start of a new page.
    Great, Kath.
