Needlepainting Class Winner Announced!

Amazon Books

Good morning, world! Today’s the day we announce the winner of last week’s give-away for a spot in Tanja Berlin’s online needlepainting class, and the kit and tools that go along with it.

You can read all about the online needlepainting class here, on Tanja’s website. If you didn’t win and you still want to participate in the class – an excellent opportunity for learning the basics of needlepainting with a master embroiderer from the comfort of your own home and according to your own time table – you might check that out. Her enrollment is limited in number and once all the spots are filled, registration will be closed.

Tanja Berlin Needlepainting class

On to the winner of the give-away, randomly chosen as usual:

Hope H. in Virginia! This is Hope’s response to my questions about needlepainting:

I have never tried needlepainting but I love the delicacy and fluidity. It reminds me of ballet: graceful and disciplined. Knowing where to place stitches and when to change colors seems to be the challenge. This opportunity comes as I am trying to expand beyond cross-stitch. I would love to have a teacher to guide me!

Congratulations, Hope! Please contact me with your contact information, and I’ll send that along to Tanja!

I started to write up some answers to questions regarding online classes in today’s blog post, but the article became too long, so later on, I’ll address the inquiries that have popped up in my inbox lately, especially since I’ll be offering some online classes here on Needle ‘n Thread in the next six months. (They’re not in needle painting, just so you know!)

Tomorrow, an oldy but a goody. If you can get your hands on this book (and it is still available out there through used book sources), you can learn a lot about embroidery from it. We’ll look at it tomorrow, up close and personal.
See you then!

  2. Hi Mary,

Did you mean to give us the name of the book you’re going to be talking about tomorrow? When I read it the first few times it seemed to me like you did, but forgot… now when I read it again I thought maybe it was just a teaser. I’m confused!

Congratulations to Hope, and thank you for hosting all these prize giveaways!

  3. You snooze, you lose! I went back and the book is now, $90, $202, or 150 pounds. See how wide your influence goes, Mary?

  4. Hi Mary,
This comment isn’t related to any of your recent postings, but I thought it would be nice for you to know.
I recently ordered some embroidery supplies from Threadneedle Street in Issaquah, WA. I had a few questions before ordering, and the staff was more than happy to answer them. One of the staff acually recommended your website to me, as a great source of practical embroidery information.
So there your are Mary, all the hard work you put into your website does pay off. Your reputation is wide spread and impecable!
I’d also advise people to check out Threadneedle Street. They were prompt in answering my email and really went the distance to help me. Their prices are also excellent!
    Cheers Lynn

    1. Thanks, Lynn! Threadneedle Street is a lovely little shop! Not only to order through online, but also to visit in person, if you’re ever in the area. It’s small, but it is jam packed with wonderful stuff. The proprietor is a gem – very knowledgeable and helpful, and she has great taste in books. She stocks some beautiful needlework books. Definitely a favorite place to shop! ~MC
