In a Brown Paper Package, Tied Up with String…

Amazon Books

Good morning, my friends!

Welcome to what I hope is a quiet and calm Friday for you!

Today, we’re having a fun give-away on Needle ‘n Thread, and I’ll also tell you about my quiet weekend sale.

Christmas Give-Away - Favorite Things

A Stitcher’s Christmas – On Pause

Normally, this time of year, I do a whole series of give-aways called “A Stitcher’s Christmas.” But this year, with the studio move and several other major projects going on, I didn’t have the time to coordinate everything.

Still, I’m planning some nice give-aways before Christmas. I’ll have some gorgeous silk ribbon items from Di Van Niekerk a little bit later (she’s having a Black Friday event on her website, which we didn’t want to disrupt). For those who love Reticello and other needle lace, you can look for a kit and book combo coming out as a give-away. Are you a linen lover? Ooooh, have I got something for you! Keep your eye out for that one, too! All in the next month!

Favorite Things Give-Away

Today’s give-away is what I call a Favorite Things give-away. What is it? Well… in a brown paper package tied up with string, the winner will receive some of my favorite things.

Nestled inside the box that will land at your door hopefully in time for Christmas, you’ll find all kinds of goodies! For example:

…and More! A bit of fabric, some threads, and just a great selection of the quality needlework goods that I love to use. We’ll load that little package full of delights for you!

To Enter the Give-Away

This give-away has now ended. Thanks for participating!

A Rare Weekend Sale

And finally, I’d like to quietly mention that I’ve got a 10% sale going on in my shop, on everything, between now and Monday at midnight.

The discount applies to in-stock items (tangible or e-books).

When you check out, you have to use the code THANKS22 to receive the discount. The discount cannot be applied after your order is placed, so please don’t forget to enter the code in the appropriate box when you check out.

I don’t do sales often, so this is your opportunity to get a discount if you want one!

Have a wondrous weekend!

  1. I have lots of favorites too. But just now, it’s the recording of Quelle Est Cette Odeur Agréable by Chanticleer. So, so beautiful!

  2. I know this is a children’s song, but I love Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. For me, that is the best Christmas song ever. Thank you so much for your blog and your Patreon account. I enjoy both. I look forward to all the wonderful articles that you will share over the coming year.

    3
  3. My favorite Christmas tune is Carol of the Bells. I’ve always though it gorgeous and fun to sing with

  4. Thank you Mary for the for the giveaway. I hope the work for your move is winding down and it now just fine tuning to make the place just right for you and Anna.
My favorite holiday song is “White Christmas”. Reminds me of being a kid and my mom watching the old the Christmas specials with Bing Crosby. I can still here her say “sing it Bing” for the shows big ending.

  5. I love “ Let it Snow” because it reminds me of how lucky we are to have a snuggly warm home in which to celebrate the holidays.

    11
  6. O Come, O Come Emmanuel
Heard it by Cantus while driving to see my son in Nashville one Christmas and it was so beautiful.

    13
  7. Always Silent Night. We sing this by candlelight at the end of our Christmas Eve service. Merry Christmas to you!

    15
  8. Hope you get your new locations set up soon and eagerly awaiting pictures of the new store. We just moved in early fall and we are still emptying boxes. It takes a while to get used to a new space and decide how best to utilize it. All the best for the Xmas holidays. I have learned so much from your site and videos. Much appreciated.

    16
  9. my favourite Christmas Hymn is ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ by Christina Rossetti with music by Gusto Holst.

  11. Favorite Christmas Tune- The Christmas Song-Chestnuts roasting, etc.

My favorite embroidery artist is you. I know I can always find what I need from you. Thanks! Best wishes on your new shop.

  12. My favorite holiday song is Oh, Holy Night. I sang it as a solo in my 6th grade Christmas program (I don’t think they do that kind of thing anymore!) a very long time ago. I still tease my husband and will stand in front of him and sing it!!
Merry Christmas and may all your days be filled with music, Mary!

    21
  13. In spite of the title of the post, I don’t suppose tunes from the Sound of Music count 🙂

Every Christmas, several of us at church get together to learn a four-part harmony carol to perform at our Carols by Candlelight service, and although “Mary did you know” and “Joseph’s lullaby” perhaps get the biggest reaction from the congregation, my own favourite is “O Holy Night”. I’m particularly fond of a version I saw some years ago, where clever video editing allowed the grown-up Aled Jones (who became famous as a boy soprano singing, among other things, Walking In The Air, though not in the actual Snowman film) to sing this carol as a duet with his younger self.

    22
  14. Hard to pick just one, but I love Michael Buble’s (Canadian, no less!) rendition of Silent Night. His entire Christmas album is on repeat over Christmas, and at the risk of incurring wrath, it’s never too early to play it!! Or say it …

    Merry Christmas, Mary!

    23
  15. My favorite Christmas carol is O’ Holy Night. Just wish I had the voice to sing it well. Enjoy your new space- it looks fabulous!

    24
  16. My favorite Christmas tunes are the older ones , like White Christmas, Silent Night and Grandma Got run over by a reindeer. There are so many to choose from.

    28
  17. Thank you Mary for this giveaway, but more than that for the hours of enjoyment I’ve spent on your site. So clear, colourful and fun!

Caroline Jenner, Prince Edward Island, Canada

    31
  18. I’m sorry, I replied just now to enter the giveaway, but forgot to leave the website line blank, and I can’t now edit it – could you please accept it nonetheless and remove the website?

    32
  19. It’s so difficult to choose one song from all the wonderful Christmas music, but I do love Winter Wonderland. I live in an area that usually has a fair bit of snow before, during and after Christmas, (sometimes right up to May) so that song seems apt. Thanks for the chance to win this lovely goody package.

    33
  20. My fave Christmas song is Chrissy Hynde’s version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Her voice is beautiful and the song is so cozy and just feels like Christmas to me.

    35
  21. There are so many wonderful “seasonal” songs that I enjoy but “Oh Holy Night” is my Favorite!

    36
  22. so glad you have moved………..life should be so much easier although since you will be busier than ever you may not notice……………….

    37
  23. My favorite Christmas song is Silver Bells. It reminds me of my childhood and how excited I was waiting for Christmas Day with my siblings.

    38
  24. Your reorganization has inspired me! At least a little bit, so the plan after recovering from overdoing Thanksgiving food is to sort my threads and reorganize the needles! Enjoy your new space!

    41
  25. My favorite Christmas song is: I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas by Bing Crosby.

    It brings back childhood memories.

    42
  26. Hi… Happy Holiday to you! I can’t wait to see your new shop all done and pretty! Im very excited for you! Very Hard to choose a fav tune here too… quite a musical family here as well. But… I guess Im old… but White Christmas as sung by Bing is my first choice. I like it by other artists as well, especially my son who sounds EXACTLY like Josh Grobin… my othere fav singer. I’ always after a new hoop so clearly interested in that goodie box! Good luck and Happy Holiday to all!

    47
  27. Some of my favorite things too! I get the pause on projects. A break is good for creativity at times! Happy Holidays’

    48
  28. Dear Mary:

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and thank you so much for doing these wonderful giveaways.

My favourite Christmas song is White Christmas. Every year I watch the movie of the same name several times. It’s such a lovely, upbeat movie so when I hear the song White Christmas, it feels me with that warm feeling of love and joy that I feel in watching the movie. And I also love to have a white Christmas, though that doesn’t always happen, but sure looks pretty when it does.

    49
  29. My favorite Christmas song has to be ‘The Christmas Song’ by Nat King Cole. It is not officially the season until that song is heard.

    50
  30. I sing in choirs and I’m partial to the cantata “Ballad of the Brown King” by Margaret Bonds. In particular, there’s a movement for treble voices called “Oh, Sing of the King who was Tall and Brown” that is hauntingly, jazzily beautiful. If you don’t know it, please find it online and have a listen!

    56
  31. My favorite Christmas tune is White Christmas. I love the movie too so that probably adds to it. There are so many wonderful songs that it is hard to decide on one.

    60
  32. This is like asking what is my favorite type of stitching! But I have to say I have memories of Silver Bells when I was about 9 years old, walking down the avenue and it was snowing, around dusk and all the holiday decorations just hit me with the spirit! Still a vivid memory for me many many years later! So SILVER BELLS it is! Thank you for being my favorite place to dream of future stitching!

    63
  33. Since I was a child, my favorite Christmas song has always been “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”.

    64
  34. So many favorites, but anything other than that song about a kid buying shoes for his mother for Christmas–I loathe it.

    68
  35. My favorite holiday song is “Greensleves” although not quite in a holiday theme. Also Good King Wincelas. Both from one of my favorite time periods.

    69
  36. Favorite Christmas tune? “O, Holy Night”- as my choice for a “classic”one – and “Mary, Did You Know?”for a contemporary song. The crescendo that culminates with “Fall on your knees” matches the lyrics so well, I can’t help but want to kneel… And the words in “Mary, Did you know”that go, “And when you kiss your little baby, you’ve kissed the face of God…” turn God’s presence into such concrete reality, my heart almost bursts with joy!

    71
  37. While it’s not specifically a holiday tune, we do tend to hear it more often this time of year, and I really love Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

    75
  38. My favorite Christmas Carol is “O Holy Night”, preferably sung in four parts (requires friends) in a stairwell with amazing acoustics at the Walt Disney Concert Hall parking garage in Los Angeles. Just thinking about that puts me into the Christmas Spirit. Happy Stitching.

    76
  39. My favorite is What Child is This? When our family gets together we ask beforehand for everyone’s favorite song and we make a playlist to play and then some will talk about why it is their favorite. So much fun

    77
    1. It’s hard to pick one favorite – but I’ll go with O Holy Night.

Looking forward to seeing more of your new space!

  40. My favorite Christmas song is ” O Holy Night”. Especially when sung by Luciano Pavarotti. Marywallis

    78
  41. Love your work and your easy to follow instructions. I would be honored to win such a fabulous gift that you are offering.

    79
  42. Silent Night is my favorite Christmas tune. We get so wrapped up in the material things during the Christmas holidays, we can forget the true reason for our celebration. When I listen to or sing Silent Night, I think of Christ and his sacrifice. Merry Christmas!

    82
  43. My favorite Christmas song is definitely Carol of the Bells—perfect listening for a cold winter’s night!

    84
  44. Thank you for this give away. One of my favorite modern Christmas songs is Little Drummer Boy by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. I love the combination of a traditional carol with the modern lyrics about peace and what people of goodwill truly wish for.

    85
  45. My tune is “Oh Holy Night”. My highlight of a Friday morning is reading Mary Corbett’s newsletter!
    Merry Christmas!

    87
  46. Thank you so much for sharing your move with us and I can’t wait to see the final result. This is my favorite time of year and my favorite song is Silent Night. Happy stitching to everyone.

    88
  47. Like you I have many favorite holiday tunes, but my all time favorite it Silent Night.
Thank you for offering this Brown Paper Package… it make me start singing when I saw the words.

    89
  48. My favorite holiday music is either What Child is This or The Carol of the Bells. I once sung Carol of the Bells in Choir and it was just divine to be INSIDE the music!

I hope you have a happy happy holiday!

    ~Cirese

    90
  49. One of my favourite Christmas carols is Silent Night I have many memories of singing this. I remember singing it in german when I was a child and lived in Germany. I remember singing it on Christmas Eve in my nurses uniform with my cloak turned red side out by candlelight in the hospital wards and I remember singing with my children at midnight mass on Christmas Eve. I do love most Christmas carols they conjure up do many memories.

    Sue

    91
  50. Thanks for your informtive posts. I always look forward to reading and working out projects. Happy holidays.

    94
  51. I just love your writing! It brings joy to my heart. Of course I love all your embroidery as well. Amazing.

    95
  52. My favorite holiday song is “The little Drummer Boy.” Ever since I was small there was something awesome about Christmas and even now 50 years later that song can make me shiver and convey that same deep emotion.

    96
  53. I love the song Dreaming of a White Christmas. There are bunches of others I love but that’s my favorite.

    Happy Holidays

    97
  54. My all time favorite holiday song is Andy Williams’ “White Christmas”. My parents had old reel to reel music tapes when I was growing up and we listened to Andy Williams, Connie Francis, Johnny Mathis, Harry Belafonte. Classics. As an adult, I began looking for CD’s of what I remembered listing to as a child. I found an Andy Williams Christmas CD, not knowing if it was the correct one. I put it in the player and pressed play. From the very first notes of “White Christmas”, I knew it was the right one because I instantly had tears running down my face. I was 8 years old again in my parents living room, with the Christmas tree lights glowing and the fireplace warming us. It’s amazing what can bring back good memories like that

    98
  55. White Christmas pops into my mind immediately.
Why I should think of that song when I live in an area where white Christmases are the norm….. and often white halloweens are too…, I have no idea!
That prize package sounds like a dram to win.

    99
  56. My favorite Christmas song is ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside” – the version from the movie “Elf”.

    101
  57. My favorite holiday tune is Coventry Carol, with very honorable mention to Carol of the Bells, Happy Christmas War is Over, and White Christmas.

Here’s hoping you had a lovely Thanksgiving and were able to take a break from the move! 🙂

    102
  58. Mmmm, my favorite holiday tune?? I want to say all of them but there are a very few that I don’t like…my fave funny tune would have to be Dominic the Donkey..my fave religious tune would be a tie between away in a manger or ave Maria..but if I can choose just one it would be Mary did you know? Specifically by Pentatonix…

    103
  59. Thank you for this chance to win you great giveaway. Love your emails and watching how you progress on all of your wonderful projects. Have a great day!

    104
  60. My favorite Christmas songs are the ones I used to ing in church as a child. “Silent Night” still gives me chills especially if the soprano harmony is added. But my absolute favorite is “Oh, Holy Night” because it begins calmly and then bursts into a crescendo. Gorgeous!

    106
  61. Oh, gosh, so much beautiful music! I’ll just have to go with the first one that popped into my head.

“Do You Hear What I Hear?”

    That one.

    Lori

    107
  62. My favorite holiday tune is
    The little drummer boy.

Thank you Mary for all you have taught me! Merry Christmas!

    108
  63. I look forward to your post. They put a smile on face. I am learning so much about needlework and your adventures of moving the shop and giveaways that sound wonderful.

    109
  64. Thanks for all you do for the Needle and Thread community. Fav song- Silent Night.
    Happy Holidays from SC!

    110
  65. Mele Kalikimaka, Bing Crosby version, without a doubt. I have to give a shout out to my all-time fave Christmas album, Christmas in the Heart by Bob Dylan!

    111
  66. My favorite holiday tune is actually a hymn: “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. It was sung at every Christmas Eve service I attended as a child and young adult – and thus holds wonderful Christmas memories for me.

    114
  67. We sing a lot of lovely Christmas songs with our Christmas choir 9the Christmas Bubbles). From Jingle Bells to Rudolph, I love them all. One note and you can smell the snow in the trees! But Carol of the Bells is my all time favorite:

    117
  68. Love actually is one of our family Christmas movies. The last song by Beach Boys’s Brian Wilson God only knows is the best. [Note: I grew up with The Beach Boys music so I’m biased]. This song paired with families reuniting at the airport always brings me happiness and tears. Thanks for letting me share!

    119
  69. I’m like you and have a multitude of favorite Christmas songs, but I do love “White Christmas” a lot. I guess it’s the imagery that it evokes. Living in California it’s not something we normally get to enjoy.

    122
  70. Oh Holy Night is one of my favorite songs, Christmas or otherwise. Some of my favorite memories are of my dad singing this in church on Christmas Eve. His face lights up as he hits the the high notes and the sound reverberates around the sanctuary.

    125
  71. My favorite tune is Jingle Bell Rock and my grandkids like to sing Nana got ran over by a reindeer.

    126
  72. Music is an important part of the winter holiday season for me. Favorites abound, and have changed over time. Recently, the contemplative 19th century poems set to music have become especially meaningful, particularly “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Christina Rosetti and “Christmas Bells” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. If I had to pick one of these two, I’d say my favorite right now is “In the Bleak Midwinter,” the Gustav Holst setting.

    128
  73. It dawned on me yesterday, why I like this time of of year the best. I love all the colors, decoration, the sounds of music everywhere, the fuss people make and the wide eyed excitement of children.

    129
  74. Let’s see my favorite holiday music? I’m not a big music person but I think my favorite is Gloria in Excelsis Deo. I know it is not a commonly sung outside of church but it just moves me during a really tough time of year.

    131
  75. I’m not sure if this is the official name, but I have always called this hymn “Angels We Have Heard on High”. I love it because when we sing those “gloooo-oooo-oooo-oooo-oooo-oooo-oria’s” we get to sing with all the exuberance we feel at the birth of a Savior.

    134
  76. It is so difficult to pick just one favorite song. My favorite music is Christmas music. I am going to say, “Mary, Did You Know?”. I didn’t know this song until I was an adult, but the first time I heard it I was at a candlelight Christmas Eve service and I got goose bumps. It’s so powerful in a quiet way and so beautiful when sung a cappella.

    135
  77. Thank you so much for a lovely give away and for being a creative presence all year long.

The song I am thinking of is “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.” We had our first snow last weekend and I was thinking about stitching all the time I was shoveling!

    Linda Schirmer

    137
  78. Mary, thanks for doing this in the middle of everything else you have going on!

Favorite Christmas carol: O Holy Night, especially as performed by Johnny Mathias.

    138
  79. Hi Mary,

Happy holidays! Like you, I have so many favorite Christmas songs. But a family go-to favorite has to be Vince Guaraldi’s Christmas Time is Here. As Linus would say…”That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown!”

    Cheers,

    Erin

    141
  80. My favourite Christmas music is a composite: The Festival of 9 Lessons and Carols from King’s College Chapel,
Cambridge, England. The story of the Nativity told in the beautiful, musical, words of the King James bible echoed by the selection of appropriate, story-telling, carols sung by the wonderful choir is sublime. That is the only word for such a service in such a place.

    143
  81. hmm fave holiday tune is hard I love so many of them. How about Dean Martins rendition of Baby Its Cold Outside.
    dq

    145
  82. There are so many great holiday tunes but my favorite is The Little Drummer Boy. It reminds me of my oldest, dearest friend (we met 65 years ago!)

    147
  83. “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”

This carol reminds me of Christmas times past … cherry-colored cheeks, long wooly red scarves, and a deep sense of joy and hope.

    150
  84. Santa Baby is up at the top of my favorite Christmas songs. But that space has so many others as well. So hard to choose.

    154
  85. It is hard to pick just one song! I guess I’ll pick Silent Night. Thank you for the wonderful things you do for us!

    155
  86. My favourite Christmas song is “Oh Holy Night”. It is the first Christmas carol I learned all the way through in grade school. I wasn’t a great singer but what I lacked in tunefulness I made up for with enthusiasm. Happy Christmas

    156
  87. My favorite holiday tune is “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”. I like to see snow at Christmas time, especially when pristine and sparkling with the sun!

    161
  88. My favourite Christmas carol is, “The Angel Gabriel From Heaven Came” with ,”O Little Town of Bethlehem” a very close second.

    164
  89. I recently found your website and love your small projects like the Autumn Fire tree and the Christmas Tree ornament. And I really enjoy your newsletters! It would be so much fun to win this Favorite Things give-away! I love my Elvis Christmas album – so hard to pick a favorite. Blue Christmas is in my head today, so I’ll pick that.

    166
  90. I have LOTS of favorite Christmas tunes but today I am singing ” The Holly and the Ivy”. Merry Christmas!

    168
  91. I would say my favorite Christmas song is Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Just mentioning it has it repeat in my head for awhile. It is like a prayer.

    169
  92. Thank you for this give away. It is certainly a busy time for you with the move to your new studio and the re-organization that entails.
Favourite Christmas song – hard one to choose, indeed. ‘O Holy Night’
Favourite time heard was out carolling in the snow.

    171
  93. Its a difficult choice for me, too. I was a music major and my family always had music as a centerpiece of holiday gatherings. That said, I would have to say “Oh Holy Night”, I loved to hear my father sing it.

    172
  94. Hi Mary,
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
Thank you for another year of wonderful postings.
My favorite holiday tune is I’ll be home for Christmas. I have such wonderful memories from long-ago family gatherings during the holidays and I love reliving them in my mind.
    Sandie F.

    175
  95. My favorite holiday tune is “Santa Clause is coming to town”!
I learned it with my cousin when we were little. We were only 9 months apart! Now I teach that to my grand children and my great grandchildren!

    176
  96. There are so many choices for favorite Christmas songs but the first one that popped into my head was “Baby It’s Cold Outside.”

Thanks Mary for another wonderful year on Needle ‘n Thread.

    Jacquelyn

    180
  97. Auld lang Syne is my favorite tune. Oh my, I always get inspired by all your articles including this ‘give away’
theme. Great ideas for all my sewing friends!

    181
  98. Oh this is exciting! My favorite holiday song of all is “Oh! Holy Night” – the tune is filled with longing and joy. But you can bet that we’ll be playing White Christmas on the TV and playing Bibb Crosby, Elvis, Mannheim Steamroller, Trans Siberian Orchestra and Bobby Helms on the stereo!
I’m so happy that you got a new space! I’ve enjoyed reading your emails and sharing your posts with my stitching friends on Facebook. You really teach us so many skills and each project is so beautiful! Thankful for you and your blog, Mary! Thank you for all you do for us all year long! Love love love you for that. ❤️

    182
  99. My favorite Christmas song is actually a Christmas opera. Amahl and the Night Visitors. The music is absolutely gorgeous, the story is inspiring and it never fails to remind me what Christmas is truly about.

    184
  100. “Silent Night” is by far my favorite holiday (Christmas) tune. Origin being German and when sung is German is simply wonderful as well.

    185
  101. What a lovely gift! Mary, I have learned so much from you, thank you so very much!
Best wishes on a smooth transition to the new location.
Today my favorite Christmas song is “Silent Night”. It gives me a sense of holiness of the everyday, and the holiness of Jesus’ birth.

    186
  102. My favorite song is Silent Night in German, I can still hear my grandmother singing it in my memories.

    188
  103. My favorite Christmas song is I’ll Be Home for Christmas or White Christmas, can’t decide! I love them all!! Thanks for all you do to share all your talents with us.

    190
  104. I just finished another one of your Christmas Ornament 2014, my 5th. I still love working on it.
    Love your website and blog.
    Happy Holidays!!

    191
  105. I heard “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” when my brother was overseas in the military and it has been a favorite of mine ever since.

    192
  106. “I Wonder as I Wander” is my favorite Christmas carol. It’s an Appalachian carol and inspires nostalgia, remembering the 35 years I lived in the Southern Appalachians. Hearing it played on a hammered dulcimer or sung accompanied by a traditional dulcimer is the best way to hear this lovely carol.

    193
  107. What a wonderful give away.
I don’t have a favourite Christmas song but do love Louis Armstrong’s Zat You Santa. It’s just cute.
I belong to an embroidery guild and we love your website. We can always find answers to whatever problem we are encountering.
    Merry Christmas!

    197
  108. Thanks for an entry into the giveaway. My favorite holiday tune is by Ana Gasteyer, ‘Sugar & Booze’!

    198
  109. Okay, let me try again.
Favorites holiday song: White Christmas if I actually have a favorite. I am pretty much a fan of most holiday music. My husband starts playing it by Thanksgiving or before.

    199
  110. My favorite Christmas song is Angels We Have Heard on High.

Thank you for lovely blog – a treat each and every day.

    213
  120. Hi Mary! I hope your studio move is going well & you’ll have time to enjoy the holidays 🙂

My favourite Christmas tune is definitely The Carol of the Bells. It’s a traditional Ukrainian New Year’s tune that was made very famous in Mykola Leontovych’s 1914 arrangement, and I think we all know it well now. I love it!

    215
  121. Favorite holiday tune? Hands down, it’s the Little Drummer Boy rendition sung by Bing Crosby and David Bowie together on a TV special many, many years ago. Who would have thought their voices would harmonize so well. Brings tears to my eyes every time.

    216
  122. My favorite holiday song is Angels We Have Heard on High. I’ve always been a fan of angels, and I love singing those long “Gloria” parts, although I don’t think anyone enjoys listening to me!

    218

My favorite holiday tune is a carol: Once in Royal David’s City. I especially like it sung by King’s College Choir in the UK.

    221
  125. Needle and Thread always has great items on the website!
If I an fortunate enough to “win”, anything will be wonderful!

    222
  126. Favorite holiday tune? Goodness…Aside from the religious music I think it would have to be “Over the river and through the woods to Grandmothers house we go”. Now, I know that is probably NOT the name of the tune but I do know it is the first line! I am from a large family and as children we sang this song a lot….I still sing it a lot now that I have grandchildren of my own.

…..the horses are ready to carry the sleigh through the white and drifting snowwwww….Oh!

Thanks Mary for the fun you pack into a very busy season! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    223
  127. My favourite Christmas tune is the Carol of the Bells. I have several arrangements of it… classic orchestra, modern, real bells, even barking dogs!… and each one makes me smile every time I hear them.

    224
  128. I absolutely love receiving your email to see what you are working on and how to do all your stitching!!! I have been doing handwork since my Nana and Mom taught me hand stitching when I was 5 and hope to teach my Granddaughters some day too!
Your work is amazing, thank you so much!

    228
  129. Hello Mary and Helpers,
Like you, I have many favorite pieces of music for Christmas. I was brought up in a household that loved classical music so many of those are very nostalgic, but the one piece of Christmas music I love the best is a pop hit by Mariah Carrey that plays at the end of the movie “Love Actually”. It plays while running the credits and showing people at the airport thrilled to be greeting family and friends who have just arrived. It makes me quite teary every time to see the love and joy reflected in the reunions and the sound of the song pops those images in my mind instantly. What a treat!
Wishing you and yours a loving holiday season.
    D.W.

    229

    230
  131. My favorite holiday tune is a country song called Let It Be Christmas. It hits just the right notes for me! I am sure the brown package would hit many right notes too! Merry Christmas!

    232
  132. My favourite is White Christmas. Even though it is usually a sure thing here, there have been a few times when people were nervous that it would not be white. It makes one realize how fortunate we are to have white Christmas

    235
  133. I was on a turbulent flight once. I started singing Silent Night to regulate my breathing. So SILENT NIGHT is my favorite Christmas carol.

    237

I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas is a favorite holiday tune!

    246
  135. I am originally German, therefore my favourite xmas tune is “Es ist ein Ros’ entsprungen” (Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming). I love the music and the lyrics, both!

    252

    255
  139. My favorite is probably “Angels We Have heard on High.” I love long, drawn out, highly melismatic alleluias. Hard to choose just one, though.

    256
  140. Mary, thank you so much for your messages and educational snippets, etc! Hope your move continues to go well for your shop.

My favorite Christmas song right now is “Mary, Did You Know?” By Pentatonix.

(Oh, and thank you for your 10% discount over this weekend, my husband just ordered me a round/square hoop from you for my Dec birthday!

I really enjoy your emails. Thank you,
    Ru Donna Dville

    263
  143. My favorite Christmas song changes with my mood. Sometimes I love something quiet and reflective, like Silent Night, and sometimes I prefer something cheerful, like Here We Come A-Wassailing. But if I have to pick just one, We Three Kings really moves me and gets me into the true spirit of Christmas.

    265
  144. My favorite Christmas tune is a tough choice, because I love almost all of them. If I take the hymns out… I think… Jingle Bell Rock. It’s too fun and upbeat to sit still, when it comes on!

    270
  145. My favorite holiday tune is “Silver Bells.” I remember being in a department store during the holidays with my mother in the early 1950’s in St. Louis, and I heard “Silver Bells” being played (over the loudspeaker, I think.) I was about 8 or 9 years old, but I clearly remember thinking how that music made me feel very happy. I have loved that song every since.

    271
  146. My favorite holiday song (hard one Mary!) ummmm… I think I have to go with “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, it’s so uplifting!

    273
  147. There are so many holiday songs that I like that I have had a hard time coming up with just one. But I think I will name White Christmas as my favorite.

    274
  148. One of many favorites is “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, just nostalgic, touching and lovely, especially as Judy Garland sings it in the film.

    275
  149. My favorite song is “Up on the Housetop” as my grandchildren love to act and dance it out and the whole family will participate. It has become a family tradition for the kids to sing and dance to it.

    276
  150. Gloria in excelsis Deo

I love when our choir and parishioners sing this at Midnight Mass. Blessings to you, Mary and Anna!

    277
  151. I jusr like Christmas music in general. I even like the chipmunks songs. My top two are O Holy Night and Go Tell It On The Mountain. Merry Christmas, Diane

    278
  152. Trains and Winter Rains by Enya.
This is a tough one! At this moment in time it is the one on loop in my head.

    279
  153. Thank you Mary for all your wonderful instructions.
My favorite Holiday song is, Mary did you know. It reminds me of what Christmas is all about.

    281
  154. in my earlier comments I was distracted and neglected to add my favorite Christmas tune. It is Bing Crosbys White Christmas. That tune seems to ground me, somehow! (You can probably guess my age range!)

    282
  155. How to choose? Probably “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”( or whatever the title is). I also like “ Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, but it always makes me cry.
    Merry Christmas!!

    284
  156. My favorite holiday tune is a religious one – Silent Night. Sung well it always makes me very emotional. It evokes peacefulness, calm, and truly reinforces the reason for the season.

    286
  157. How generous of you to think of others during your move. Moves are so much work!
My favorite Christmas song is It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas.

    287
  158. I love holiday music so it’s hard choosing a favorite but the one in my head right now is a medieval Christmas carol called “Tomorrow shall be my dancing day,” there are a couple of versions on youtube.

    289
  159. My favorite holiday tune is « Count your blessing » by Bing Crosby. From one of my favorite Christmas movie: White Christmas

    292
  160. Mary,
How, oh how does one pick one favorite holiday song? I’ve already been singing It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas to my six-week old grand daughter, but how can I omit The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting – Nat King Cole), or even Santa Baby? Wishing you and yours a beautiful and merry holiday season. Charlene O in NC.

    293
  161. I am a French Quebecer and I love the french song ”Minuit Chrétien”.

I have to say that I feel that Christmas songs on the radio 24/7 is too much for me. By the time we hit Christmas, I am totally fed up with Christmas songs . However, Christmas is a precious time to remember the birth of our saviour, and all that has been given to us in order to have great lives. And one of them, is having Needle’n Thread newsletter in my inbox. Happy Holidays to you all, and I wish you the most sought after gift: LOVE.

    296

  165. Hi Mary.
My favorite holiday tune is Silent Night. Whenever I hear that song, it brings me back to the times when I went to church with my family and we all sang the song with the congregation. I close my eyes whenever the song plays and deep sense of peace envelopes me. There’s also a tinge of sadness because almost all of the family who used to go with me have now passed on. Still, the peaceful feelings override the sadness I feel. Tidings of great joy indeed.
Hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving.

    302
  166. O come, o come Emmanuel

Happy (day after) Thanksgiving! Have really enjoyed seeing your shop posts ~ excited for you!

    304
  167. I always liked “O Holy Night”. The “fall on your knees, oh hear the angel voices” was always sung so expressively by our church choir. Thank you Mary for this giveaway.

    306
  168. My favorite holiday tune? It is “O Holy Night”. Wow-wa, does it ever speak to my soul.
Thank you Mary for your sharing of your vast knowledge and experience with some many things needle and thread. And a warm congratulations on your new workspace.

    308
  169. I love “O Holly Night”, as I think it is beautiful. I also love ” I herd the bells on Christmas day” for the history behind it. Okay, ya, I’m a history nerd.

    309
  170. My favourite Christmas song is “White Christmas”.
My favourite Christmas hymn is “O Holy Night”.

    310
  171. My favorite Christmas song isn’t a Christmas song, but it gives me the feeling of Christmas all year. It’s “Hallelujah “ by Cohen. I’m learning to play it on my flute. When I hear Lauren Davenport sing it, it opens my soul.

    313
  172. My favorite Christmas song isn’t a Christmas song, but it gives me the feeling of Christmas all year. It’s “Hallelujah “ by Cohen. I’m learning to play it on my flute. When I hear Lauren Davenport(seriously worth the internet search) sing it, it opens my soul.

    314
  173. I know this dates me, but Peggy Lee, Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. It’s so cheerful and lively.

    316
  174. I always listen to Handel’s Messiah at Christmas time even though it was written to celebrate Eastertime. As a matter of fact, it is playing in the background as I write this. While this may seem an odd choice, I find it celebratory and exhilarating. What better music to enjoy during this magical time of year.

    319
  175. My favourite Christmas song is “Mer Jul” by Adolphson & Falk, and is a song with much humor and ironi sung in Swedish. It was never written with the intention of becoming a Christmas staple, but as a one time only song for a radio show, the song had its 40th anniversary last year.

    320
  176. There is no way I could pick one favorite holiday song, because I love so many of them! So, this is just the first one that came to mind: Noel Nouvelet.

    321
  177. Hello, Mary! Like you, I have many favorite holiday tunes. For non-religious, I have always liked “Holly Jolly Christmas.” I love Burl Ives voice, and it is just such a cheerful song with friendly lyrics. “Silent Night” is my far and away favorite religious song. When the choir sings it at Mass on Christmas Eve/Day, I choke up. It’s so beautiful and meaningful to me, maybe because I am a mother/grandmother. I feel Mary’s joy and pain.
    Have a very Merry Christmas!

    326
  178. Goodness – just one? I love Christmas music but rather than list every song I love I’ll pick It Came Upon a Midnight Clear.

    328
  179. I have lots of holiday tunes that are among my favorites .But the most special one is ‘Silent Night’. It takes me back to the Christmases we spent together my Dad and Mum and my three brothers and sisters in our home in Mumbai,India. Those memories are so precious so vivid although its been 30 years since we were last together.

    329
  180. I also love Christmas music! Especially tunes I can sing along to. My favourite is “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”. Too cute! One of my granddaughters used to sing it when she was just 2 or 3 years old & nailed every word albeit with many mispronounced words. I’ll never forget it.

    330
  181. Music is a huge part of my Christmases also–as the daughter of a Mennonite pastor, carols sung in church are a formative childhood memory. I would have a hard time choosing my favorite but amongst them is Joy to the World, sung a capella with ALL the parts, soprano through bass.

    331
  182. We always decorate our Xmas tree listening to Polish carols sang by Golec uOrkiestra. I don’t live in Poland anymore and my husband and daughter are British, but this became our Xmas tradition.

    333
  183. That is a tough question. Today, after watching some holiday movies, “O Sing to God” (I think it is the correct title), sung by the Robert Mitchell Boys Choir in “The Bishop’s Wife”.

    335
  184. For me, it’s a tossup between Oh Holy Night, & Mary Did You know for my favorite holiday tune. Without the beauty & holiness of that day, there would be no Christmas.

    336
  185. What a lovely brown paper package! And a generous beginning to the holiday season.
I have always loved Oh Come All Ye Faithful (and just about every other Christmas song)

    337
  186. My favourite holiday tune is Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. I love James Taylor’s version. It has popped up in some of my favourite movies that have a little bit of Christmas in them like While You Were Sleeping!
    Happy Holidays to you Mary!

    338
  187. My favorite holiday music isn’t one tune, but the Christmas section of Messiah. I’ve sung it more times than I can count, and for me, that is when Christmas truly begins.

    340
  188. O Holy Night, without question is my favorite! Done well, I get chills every time!

Thanks so much, Mary, for everything you do for us!

    341
  189. “What’s your favorite holiday tune?”
My favorite song for this time of year is O Come O Come Emmanuel

    344
  190. My favorite holiday song is God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. It always perks me up and makes me happy. But I’m also good with any of the Gregorian chants. They are a soul balm to me: soothing, quieting, uplifting. It’s the heart of Christmas anytime of year.

    345
  191. Santa Baby.

Not many Christmas songs I don’t care for but this one puts a jingle in my step and smile on my face as a seasoned Nana.

    346
  192. I love to hear “Silver Bells” during the holidays. It reminds me of childhood and family and all those 1950s Christmas cards.

    348
  193. It’s so lovely of you to have give aways and much good luck with your new studio, classes and on line sales. Happy belated thanksgiving and Happy Holidays.

    349
  194. I am a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas music. I love “oh little Town of Bethleham”. Ohhhh and “Silent Night”.

    350
  195. For many years Mary has been my daily connection to all things stitch…..sometimes a peek to explore something new or providing a refresher tip, is a way to satisfy a connection to the community of embroiderers and what’s not to love about the reviews to get the product that will best fit the task! 🙂

    353
  196. My favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night.
Thanks for the opportunity to win this great giveaway!

    354
  197. Ouch — how to choose? Using ‘tune’ I’ll choose White Christmas for it’s nostalgia if nothing else. Some of the hymns are truly my favorites.

    358
  198. Mary,

Thank you for all the embroidery knowledge you share with us throughout the year and I love the projects too!

My favorite holiday song is Jingle Bells by The Roches!

    Roberta L

    360
  199. Oh darn, I forgot my very favorite song is “Mary, did you know?” Especially when sung by Clay Aiken, runner up season 2 American Idol. So good.

    362
  200. Well Mary, that’s a hard one for me too because almost all Christmas songs are ranked above everything else in my mind, but this year the director of a ukulele group I belong to has added a new song that’s not usually considered a Christmas song. Since it’s from the movie White Christmas and we’re doing it as part of our holiday performances and I’ve always loved the song, it’s my new (old) favorite Christmas song! It’s Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep.

    363
  201. For my favourite Christmas tune to kick start the festive family seasons – will give the nod the to Bing Crosbie’s White Christmas and Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas a very close second:)

    364
  202. That’s a tough question, I agree. I think Oh, Holy Night by Josh Grobin is my favorite right now. What a voice- what a song. But also Brenda Lee, Bing Crosby – all the good oldies. I’m curious to hear what your favorites are. Are you a singer? Thanks for sharing your lovely work. I had only done backstitch on dish towels, but am now trying some new stitches on actual pieces of linen. Your tutorials are wonderful.

    366
  203. My favorite Christmas Carol is Joy to the World. My favorite Advent hymn is O Come, O Come, Emanuel.

    372
  204. My favorite Christmas tune is “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” I’m silly that way! I sing along when it comes on the radio.

    373
  205. My favorite christmas tune is a hard one. I love “What Child is This” because I love the “Greensleeves” tune. But, I think my all time fave is the Carol of the Bells… or anything from John Denver and the Muppets… or Muppets Christmas Carol

    374
  206. Hi Mary, I really enjoy your website and blog. I have learned a lot from both. I also want to thank you for the wonderful snippets. Happy Holidays to you and to all who enjoy your postings as much as I do. BTW, my favorite Christmas song is “All I want for Christmas is you.”

    Theresa Mc

    375
  207. What a lovely gift it would be to receive. It would provide hours of relaxation while boosting my creativity.

    377
  208. My favorite Christmas tune is The Gift. It is about a little girl who has no gift to bring to Jesus at her church on Christmas Eve. She finds a bird who is injured and nurses it back to health and brings it to the church as her gift and God is pleased.

    378
  209. When the dog bites
    When the bee stings
    When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my needle and thread
    And then I don’t feel so bad….
Guess my favourite Christmas song/ film

    379
  210. Carol of the Bells has always been my favorite. Deep, stirring and rhythmic, it has always pulled me in when I hear it. Other faves may come and go, but that one rises above all else. Happy Holidays!

    381
  211. Merry Christmas and thank you for spreading Christmas cheer and also for the beautiful needlework you feature throughout the year! I enjoy finding it in my inbox.

My favorite Christmas song is “Away In A Manger”–such a tender and sweet tune. It’s a gentle way to remind me to slow down and enjoy the true “Reason for the season.”

    383
  212. My favorite holiday tune it Merry Christmas, Darling by the Carpenters.

Thank you for another wonderful year of stitching news and tidbits. I look forward to your future emails with eager anticipation!

    386
  213. Right now, it’s “All I Want For Christmas is You,” by Mariah Carey! Such a catchy, upbeat tune! Can’t get it out of my head!

    387
  214. I always really enjoy your articles. And I find great inspiration and helpful advice as a patron member!!
    Thank you

    388
  215. Blue Christmas by Elvis. There is a part of the song my girls sing together and it makes me smile every time.

    389
  216. I like greensleeves: just the simple music, on piano; no lyrics.

I research it on various websites, and most scholars believe it is from time of Elizabeth I.

    I like the tempo: slow.

I like the melody, which is played in a low key and a high key, so I find it very meditative and calming, and a nice contrast to the holiday frenzy.

I have a B.A. in English, so I need to point out that scholars now believe that Elizabeth I writes many of the plays attributed to “shakespeare.”

Rebecca, The Girl With 9 Cats

    390
  217. I love “We’re walking in the air” , the Raymond Briggs’ Snowman song as originally sung by Aled Jones .

    391
  218. You always come up with the greatest ideas for giveaways. I love your embroidery videos and projects. This year I became a supporter of Patreon and am enjoying all of my perks! Have a joyous Christmas season!

    392
  219. Favorite tune? In lieu of saying all of them, I’ll say “joy to the world,” because that’s how I feel about my savior.

    393
  220. It’s always a lovely surprise to find you in my inbox in the morning (even though I know you stop by regularly)!!

My favorite holiday song is “Carol of the Bells”, specifically the Manheim Steamroller version, but I like all the versions. What I get to listen to most this time of year is football…

    394
  221. My favorite Christmas song. So many to love! But Mary Did You Know, the rendition by Pentatonix, always hits my heart.

    395
  222. While The Merry Bells Keep Ringing…happy holidays to you. I woke up with this in my head this morning. Good thing it’s a favorite.

    396
  223. One more thing… I forgot to post my favorite Christmas song. I have several but Drummer Boy, Silent Night and Come All Ye Faithful are three of my favorites.

    399
  224. My favorite holiday song is The Little Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth mash-up duet by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. A very close second is a traditional French carol, Il Est Ne Le Divin Enfant.

    400
  225. My favorite Christmas song is “White Christmas”. Love your site. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    401

    Good Luck,
    Billie

    405
  227. My favorite Christmas song
is “O Holy Night”. I’ve loved this song since I was a girl singing in choir at church. The message is joyous.

    406
  228. I’m probably dating myself but my favorite song at Christmas is “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby. Love the movie, too. We watch it at least once every holiday season!!

    409
  229. Hanukkah music doesn’t hold the same kind of sway in popular culture for obvious reasons, but this is cute:

    411
  230. My favorite carol is “Carol of the Bells” It just makes my heart happy when I hear it !!

    Thank You
    Joan Smth

    412
  231. We have a long standing rule in our family. (I’m sure created to keep me under control.) Christmas music can only be played in our home from the day after Thanksgiving thru Dec 31st. Otherwise, I would listen all year long. Of course no rules apply for my earbuds. I love Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”. Everything stops and we start moving when she sings this one. With babies in arms, we dance. So that’s my pick cause if I think on this too long the list becomes endless. By the way, TODAY is the Day after Thanksgiving. Yeah!

    417
  232. Hi Mary, I’m so excited for you in the new shop space, and can’t wait to see pictures of you all set up. Thanks for letting us be a part of that and for this wonderful website of yours.

I love the holiday song, Mary Did You Know?

    418
  233. What’s your favorite holiday tune? – Oh my gosh, every year around Christmas I change my ring tone to the dance of the sugar plum fairy’s! But honestly, I started listening to Christmas music a week ago and I love it all!

    421
  234. OH, that’s a tricky question! My favorite depends on my mood and the singer. I adore Bing Crosby at this time of year. And Elvis. And, well you get the idea! However, I guess I am in a “Blue Christmas” mood today missing my kids. So that would be the song winner today. Happy Holidays!

    423
  235. I have many favorite Christmas (holiday) tunes but O Holy Night is at the top! Thank you for a great giveaway!

    424
  236. Favorite holiday tune varies from day to day. There are so many that remind me of joy. Today it is “Angels we have heard on high.”

    425
  237. Hi Mary; I’m excited for you to be in your new location! I hope you will continue to share photos with us as you continue to settle in and get things organized.
Regarding my favorite Christmas song, it’s “Mary’s Boy Child/Oh my Lord”, from Boney M. I know the names are a bit odd, but I fell in love with the carol as soon as I heard it, and it’s been one of my favorite Christmas songs for many years now.
I hope you and your trusty assistant, Anna, have a wonderful holiday season.

    426
  238. My favorite holiday tune is I’ll be Home for Christmas sung by Elvis Presley is so beautiful and sentimental.

    429
  239. A favorite Christmas tune is hard. Last weekend I had the privilege of attending Handel’s Messiah – the power of the “Hallelujah Chorus” is heart stirring. However “Silent Night” with with it’s haunting soft lyrics is another that brings peace. There are the fun songs, “I’m getting nothin’ for Christmas” and “White Christmas”….selecting one favorite Christmas song is like picking a favorite child.

    432
  240. So many favorites from Burl Ives singing Silver Bells to Bing Crosby singing White Christmas…. O Holy Night is my favorite, especially by Nat King Cole.
Blessings to you and your family Mary!

    434
  241. My favorite Christmas songs are Mary Did You Know and What Child is This. Thank you for your website, I love poking around and watching your tutorials. Happy holidays!

    435
  242. I have many but I will pick Fum,Fum,Fum only because everytime that I hear it I have wonderful memories of Maderal dinners I attended when all 3 of my kids were involved. The music and costumes were just majical.

    436
  243. That’s a hard one, as you say. It would be “Let It Snow”. I think what I enjoy most are the various artists who have sung it together.

    437
  244. My favorite holiday tune is Little Drummer Boy. I love the two different rhythms — the background versus the main melody.
Also, good luck to Mary with her new studio. Moving to a new space is exciting and a bit nerve-wracking. It does provide an opportunity to reorganize, eliminate some things and become re-acquainted with old items. Congratulations and good luck.

    438
  245. The Grocery Girls instagram is having the same topic for their Christmas give away!

I think my very favourite, of many, is the Huron Carol, especially the recording of the Toronto Consort in Huron published before streaming. I don’t know if that version is still available.

    439
  246. My holiday is Chanukah and my favorite tune is mi yim alayle,a very bright almost dancey sort of tune

    441
  247. Hard for me to say as well but Feliz Navidad has a special place in my heart. My father struggled with the Spanish lyrics every year and it came out Fleece Snobby Knob. It became a joke between us till his death at Christmas time in 2008. We’d call each other to be the first to hear it on the radio and hold the phone up so the other could hear.
The day of his funeral I put a Feliz Navidad ornament that I’d gotten him in his casket with him. As we left the funeral home for the cemetery my husband turned on the radio in the car and you can guess what was just starting to play!

    442
  248. I love the song “Mary, Did You Know.” This song makes me realize that we are all vessels of God to be filled with the Holy Spirit so we may do God’s will and be of service to of all mankind. Some of those callings seem huge to me but Mary’s immediate “yes” in response to God’s huge request is inspiration to me to do what I can to be of help to others.

    443
  249. My favorite holiday tune is “O Holy Night.” I also have a lot of other favorites–this is a tough question!

    444
  250. The song that I related to most of my life was “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. I was a child of the ‘40’s so many were off to serve the war effort. My family was lucky to have singers that familiarized me with the popular songs of that era. As an adult, I lived far across the country from family and did not always have the means to get home. So, that song held meaning. The second best is “White Christmas” as I love snow! And I grew up in upstate NY where I remember many snowfalls. Nostalgia for snow set in while living in S Calif. and Florida and Texas!

    445
  251. My favourite Christmas song (golden oldie) is White Christmas, by Bing Crosby. Wishing you, a wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

    447
  252. One of my favorite songs is Oh Holy Night because I can remember as a little girl hearing it in church at the Christmas Eve midnight service sung by an Air Force service man from the local base. He was in his dress uniform and it was amazing.

    448
  253. There are so many wonderful songs to choose from so its difficult to narrow down from Christmas hymns to popular Christmas tunes from the 40’s on. My favorite has been Vince Guaraldi’s Christmas Time is Here from the Charlie Brown Christmas album. Actually, the entire album is lovely to listen to.

    449
  254. Perhaps not the most fitting example of holiday music, but nonetheless my favorite, “Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer” brings a smile to my face each time I hear it. At a family celebration years ago this young and old participated in an act/sing along that was hilarious!!!
    Happy Holidays to all.

    452
  255. That is a tough question as each year more and more songs get added to my playlist.
I think my favourite holiday tune is Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas, sung by Ingrid Michaelson

    453
  256. “Silent Night” has always caused me to break into singing along but riding up the ladder is “Mary Did You Know”. After all, Christmas is all about the baby Jesus!
Thanks for all your inspiration Mary!

    454
  257. I love Christmas carols, and Christmas music on the radio from Thanksgiving through Christmas. My favorite carol is Angels We Have Heard on High. Have a wonderful Christmas season!

    456
  258. My favourite Christmas song is “Little Drummer Boy/ Peace On Earth” by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. For me, this magical song is able to evoke that special festive feeling.

    457
  259. One of my favourite Christmas songs is White Christmas. I love to listen to Christmas music while doing my Christmas sewing!

    458
  260. It would be a special treat to receive a surprise from you. I teach crazy quilting and always have students go to your site for stitching lessons. I appreciate all you have done for our stitching world. Thanks….mary

    459
  261. I absolutely love Andy Williams’s version of It’s the most Wonderful Time of the Year. When is comes on in the car I blast it.

    460
  262. My favorite Christmas songs are on an album I purchased in the Sixties, featuring the Deller Consort. It’s available now on CD but I cannot remember the exact title. Lovely old Christmas music with the incomparable Alfred Deller. My son will be playing the music for me. It’s a family tradition.

    464
  263. My favorite Christmas music is O Holy Night. For many years I played the flute professionally, and have played this piece for innumerable Christmas Eve services. It was always the highlight of the whole season.

    465
  264. Although there are many beautiful Christmas songs, my favourite must be “I’m Dreaming of a White Xmas” sung by Bing Crosby. Before my mother passed on we would sing it every Christmas Eve knowing full well that here in New Zealand we would never get a white Christmas as it is in the middle of Summer.

    466
  265. Holiday songs are hard to have a favorite. For a religious song, I love “O Holy Night” and for secular, “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” as sung by Andy Williams.

    467
  266. I have lots of favorites, too, but my most favorite – the one that gets me on my knees – is:

    O Come, O Come, Emmanuel

    469
  267. I have 2 holiday favorites– “Let It Snow!” and “That Holiday Feeling” by Steve and Eydie. They were on a record collection of Christmas carols that my mom had (which I would *love* to find on CD somewhere!). We would play them when decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, etc. Steve and Eydie just sounded so different to me from the rest of the traditional carols on the record– fun and fresh, with an undercurrent of sexual tension (“Jack Frost is nipping at our feet!”|”I bet your lips are warm and sweet…”) It makes it all the better than they were married in real life and devoted to each other until she passed away.

    474
  268. My favourite Christmas tune is Bryan Kelly’s arrangement of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”, closely followed by his arrangement of “Ding Dong Merrily/For Unto us a Child is Born” where the two tunes wrap around each other. Both are on the Hely-Hutchinson “A Carol Symphony” CD. Christmas personified!

    476
  269. I love so many songs, but one of my favorites is Oh Tannenbaum sung by Nat King Cole.
Have a great weekend Mary and thank you for the give away.

    478
  270. my favorite holiday tune is I’ll be home for Christmas. It has such longing for home in it, it almost makes me cry!

    480
  271. I love all Christmas music, especially the traditional carols but I’d say “Joy to the World” is my favorite. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!

    481
  272. White Christmas by Bing Crosby. My mom and grandmother used to sing the entire album together while decorating Christmas sugar cookies. Fun as a kid, eye rolling as a teenager, a lovely memory now.

    482
  273. My favorite song depends on my mood at the time, but I am fond of White Christmas because it reminds me of the movie with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. If you’ve never seen the movie, watch it! What a treat!

    485
  274. Frosty The Snowman! That’s my favorite because it’s so cheerful and accessible to all no matter your faith during this time of celebration.

    487
  275. My favorite piece of Christmas music is “Emmanuel” sung by Amy Grant – although I do have a huge soft spot for Cantus’ rendition of “Ave Maria!”

    490
  276. My favourite ‘holiday tune’ is “Joy to the World” – such lovely uplifting music – a real joy!

    492
  277. I have had many favorite song as I was growing up, starting with I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus. But now as an adult I always look forward to hearing Hodie Christus Natus Est.

Thank you for all that you do. Hope you have a joyous holiday season.

    493
  278. The Holly and the Ivy has been my favourite since early schooldays, when the entire school was assembled several mornings a week in the month before Christmas to learn carols in preparation for the Christmas concert. We were blessed to have wonderful teachers who devoted so much time to ensuring that every pupil had the opportunity to experience the joy of music and the thrill of participation.

    494
  279. The little drummer boy has been my favorite Christmas carol since I was little. Thank you for all the work you do to make embroidery accessible for all and for holding this giveaway. I hope you are spending a warm happy holiday this week.

    495
  280. My favourite holiday song is Baby, It’s Cold Outside. My favourite version is from the movie Elf.

    Happy Holidays

    497

    499
  282. I especially like “White Christmas” because on of the backup singers is the mom of a high school friends. The song always reminds me of the friend.
Your holiday posts are so meaningful to me. Seems to come at an appropriate reflective time for me. Merry Christmas. And enjoy your new shop and learning table.

    504
  283. Thanks for your Thanksgiving memories and for all that you do, Mary. I enjoy every word you write…even when it is something I don’t think I’m interested in doing. You make it all so fascinating that I want to dive right in. My Best, Jane from North Carolina beaches

    507
  284. It’s hard to pick one favorite. I would say “Little Drummer Boy.” But there are many beautiful songs… besides the hymns I do like “All I want for Christmas is You.”

    508
  285. Silent Night. The music and words just express the awe and wonder of Christmas.
Then there is the version of Little Drummer Boy sung by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Pretty hard to top that.

    509
  286. One of my Favorite Christmas songs is “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives
Just gets me in the holiday mood! So fun to sing along to!

    510
  287. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear is my favorite Christmas hymn because of the line:

Oh hush the noise, ye men of strife,
    And hear the angels sing!

    512
  288. Holiday music that sticks in my head is anything by Nat King Cole…but Judy Garland singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is the best…Jane in the South

    513

    516
  290. O Holy Night is so moving. Thanks for all you do, Mary. I’ve just taken up embroidery a few years ago and you’ve been one of my best teachers.

    517
  291. My favourite holiday tune is Silent Night. I still remember my daughter singing it in her primary school choir. It captures those sometimes rare moments of stillness and beauty in the holiday season.

    518
  292. Silent Night is my favorite Christmas song. We always sing it as the last hymn at church candlelight service on Christmas Eve. It’s a wonderful tradition. Jane C

    522
  293. One my all time favourite holiday tunes is ‘I’m dreaming of a white Christmas.’ Having been born in the Netherlands, a white Christmas was always a possibility. When I was 14, we immigrated to New Zealand, no chance of a white Christmas there! Having been back to the Netherlands for a Christmas which was indeed a white one, I can now only dream of the white Christmas’s I have experienced. Hence it being my favourite song.

    Margaret R

    523

My favorite Christmas tune was and still is Nat King Cole’s “The Christmas Song” because it describes the seasonal feel so well. Merry Christmas to You!

    547
  308. “O Holy Night” has been my favorite Christmas since the first time I heard it. I love the harmony and crescendo in it, especially sung by Josh Grobin ! A close second though, would
be “My Favorite Things,” which you so cleverly quoted ! That’s one of those songs that stick in my mind for hours after I hear it- one of those happy songs. And I loved the production of “Sound of Music” so it has even more appeal. I admit, I get very tired of Christmas carols long before Christmas as my favorite radio station begins playing them in Oct. But those 2 songs get turned up way loud and enjoyed !

    548

    552
  312. How fun it would be to win your “favorite things” package. These are a few of my favorite things, is definitely NOT my favorite Christmas song. For one thing, listen to the words and then ask yourself why a MAN-Frank Sinatra would sing it. (Snow on eyelashes, really?). Oh wait, you did ask for My favorite song…. “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”. I just think it’s funny, and I don’t hear it to often so I’m not tired of it.

    553
  313. I love “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day”. It was one of the first Christmas carols I learned as a new piano student in 1963. Even though it was a simple version, my Dad proclaimed it was his favorite. For that reason alone, it became my favorite. Later, I understood and appreciated the meaning of the lyrics. Dad has been gone since 1973, but I still tear up when I play it each year!

    576
  327. Jingle Bells. I am the oldest of 5. We would sing it in the round over and over. Mind you, none of us ever ould carry a tune, but we thought we were amazing. And the memory is lovely.

    577
  328. Well, there is of course the “everyone’s favorite” Silent Night. But another one I have always loved is “The Friendly Beasts” (I love4, love animals- we have 5 dogs, if that is a clue and have had 5 for about 15 years. Before that “only” 4, LOL). I play the piano and harp and I need to teach myself that one on the harp! Thanks for the reminder!!! Happy Black Friday Mary and Anna.

I look forward to reading your Email every day. A stitchers Christmas pause gave way to all kinds of thinking. How I can let the true beauty of the season get caught up in the to do list.
So some times a pause can be a good thing.
Now for that all important Christmas tune. Like you I have many favorites.

    603
  343. Hi Mary,
Your new studio looks just wonderful! My favorite holiday tune is “Little Tree,” a choral piece by Steven Heitzeg, with lyrics by ee cummings. Look it up on youtube and give it a listen. Have kleenex handy. It is so sweet! Here are the lyrics:

    little tree
    little silent Christmas tree
    you are so little
you are more like a flower

who found you in the green forest
and were you very sorry to come away?
    see i will comfort you
    because you smell so sweetly

i will kiss your cool bark
and hug you safe and tight
    just as your mother would,
    only don’t be afraid

    look the spangles
that sleep all the year in a dark box
dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine,
the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads,

    put up your little arms
and i’ll give them all to you to hold
every finger shall have its ring
and there won’t be a single place dark or unhappy

    then when you’re quite dressed
you’ll stand in the window for everyone to see
    and how they’ll stare!
oh but you’ll be very proud

and my little sister and i will take hands
and looking up at our beautiful tree
    we’ll dance and sing
    “Noel Noel”

    604
  344. I forgot to leave my favorite song! Posting again in the hopes you will remove my first comment when you approve them.

I love the theme of the giveaway! Thank you!

We love “C is for the Christ Child” or “C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S” sung by Jim Reeves, though we originally heard it performed beautifully by the Bar J Wranglers in Wyoming.

    Thank you again!

    605

    608
  348. O Holy Night is my favorite song because it was my grandmother’s favorite and I can still hear her singing it.

    609
  349. My favorite Holiday song is White Christmas. But there are so many others that I really enjoy too.

    610
  350. I like you LOVE ALL Christmas music. I play Instrumental Christmas starting in September and have it playing in the back ground. Silent Night is a special one for me.

    615
  351. My favorite holiday tune is Silent Night for many reasons. It evokes a calmness, peacefulness, and spirituality to even children.

    617
  352. He Shall Feed His Flock from Handel’s Messiah. It brings back college memories and one solo performance. Many, many memories.

    618
  353. My favorite Christmas song is from Mariah Carie “All I want for Christmas is you”.
Thank you for all your great articles.

    619
  354. Favourite Christmas Tune? ‘So here it is Merry Christmas’ by Slade. 2nd favourite: ‘I saw three ships come sailing by’. Very different, very lovely!

    620
  355. It is hard to pick just one favorite Christmas song as I love Christmas and all the music but Oh Holly Night is right up there on top!

    622
  356. My favorite Holiday tune is Little Drummer Boy. I went to a Catholic grade school and we sang a lot – Holidays and Masses, Programs, etc. I like this song best because of the beat and the drum sounds. I love choir music, but it seems hard to find today.

Have a Merry Christmas in your new space.

    L

    623
  357. My favorite Christmas song is “Do You Hear What I Hear?” It gave me chills the first time I heard it, and I still get goosebumps from it every year.

    626
  358. I can remember when I was a little girl I used to love to sing this song Angels We Have Heard on High. I loved the Gloria chorus. Although there are many Christmas songs that I love, Angels We Have Heard on High remains a special song to me.

    630
  359. My favourite music at this time of the year is anything that’s not a Christmas carol – shopping centre muzak has ruined them for me!

    634
  360. My favourite Christmas Carol is “ Kling, Glöckchen” – a German carol that means Ring Little Bell . It brings back fond memories of my childhood. Love the idea of “brown paper packages tied up with string” – Sound of Music – such a Christmas tradition!

    635
    1. I love that one, too! Another beautiful one performed by Mannheim Steamroller (I *love* their Christmas albums!)

  361. My favorite musical tune is “I’ll be home for Christmas.” This is a song that is dear to my heart because it reminds me of my late mother in law. She and I had a beautiful relationship and living 600 miles apart was hard for me. I loved our times together and miss her dearly even today some 27 years later.

    637
  362. “Here Comes Santa in His Red Canoe.” I will always remember my Mom and Dad dancing to “Here Comes Santa in His Red Canoe” by the Surfers. It was a 1959 Rock-a-Hula tune. I always wondered if Santa was in the front or in the back of the canoe. Thanks for bringing up some great memories!

    638
  363. My favorite Christmas tune is Silent Night. We would sing this song on our way to Midnite Mass every year.

    639
  364. I have many favorite songs, but the one that I love the most is “O’ Holy Night”. Always my favorite when singing in the church choir.

    640
  365. A hard question Mary but the one that makes me most joyful is Linus and Lucy by The Vince Guaraldi Trio from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

    645
  366. Sorry for the incomplete reply. I’m getting used to a new phone after getting rid of my 9 year old one.
I have so many favorites, but my all time favorite is O Holy Night. My newest favorite is Mary Did You Know? Anything by The Piano Guys also.
Thank you for the fun again this year!

    646
  367. Good King Wenceslas is number 1 on my holiday charts. But there’s something about any Baroque music played by brass that just says “Christmas season!” to my ears.

Mary, congratulations on your new space! I hope you have a delightful, rewarding holiday season: just enough busyness to give spice to your days but lovely quiet stitching to fill the soul. This site is always one of my first stops on the Internet.

    647
  368. My favorite holiday tune is : Mary, Did You Know! It is about asking Mary if she knows
that her baby boy would be the King of Kings. It has beautiful lyrics and a wondrous
melody. So excited for you to be in your new business space!

    648
  369. There are many ,
Christmas songs I love, but currently Mary did you Know by pentatonix. Such beautiful harmonies.

Silent Night is fav Christmas song.

    659
  376. I ordered the kit to make the Christmas Tree ornament. It came super fast and looks to be a fun project that I can finish before Christmas Day. Mary’s instructions on the blog post for it are very helpful, as are all her posts. Great job! I look forward to doing another kit soon!

    662
  377. I love that collection of things you’ve put together, it’s so perfect. I’ve heard such good things of Tulip needles but have never tried them, and those needle threaders are beautiful. The point on the perfect scissors looks so nice and sharp. I’ve been a bit fixated on embroidery scissors lately, and ordered a pair of the premax that you recommended before, and they just arrived and I adore them.

My favorite holiday tune is Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty Maccoll, but honestly I like so many. I’m overdue for some time spent stitching to christmas music, I think.

    663
  378. My favourite holiday tune – I have several ….
    Traditional – Silent Night
Memories of my dad – Bing Crosby’s White Christmas
Memories of my mom – It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas (also Bing)
Peppy ones to dance around the kitchen while baking – Jingle Bell Rock, All I Want for Christmas is You, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, Step Into Christmas, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Santa’s on the Rooftop, Mele Kalikimaka, ….
Modern – The Bells of St Paul (Linda Eder), Michael Buble

I could go on. I love Christmas music. Except for The 12 Days of Christmas.

    664
  379. Pertaining to your give-away for today, I was in St. Mary’s today and peered through your new window. Stalking? Perhaps!!! It looks wonderful from the outside and you’ll love the new space. A job well done! P.S. I did help out the St. Mary’s economy a bit!

    666
    1. Oh wow! Was I there? We have a big Christmas market this coming Saturday downtown, and a parade. Should be fun! I was hoping to participate in the market this year, but didn’t quite make it. Next year!

  380. My favourite Christmas song would have to be Silent Night – it tells the Christmas story.
Thanks for the chance to have a parcel wrapped in brown paper and tied up with string land at my place Mary. I love surprises.

    670
  381. My favorite Holiday tune is Hark the Herald Angels Sing. Played with a grand organ and rousing voices. A glorious tribute to the season.

    thank you and happy holidays!

    674
  383. I love the song by Blake Sheldon and his wife called You Make Me Feel like Christmas. There are certain things that make me feel like Christmas also.

    675
  384. It’s true — most ANY christmas song will be welcomed. I do think, however, when I choose what to play to establish a festive spirit — it would have to be The NutCracker. I can picture the ballerinas floating through the air, leaping amid all-things-Christmas!

    678
  385. My favorite Christmas tune is Silent Night.
It represents what Christmas is all about and is so traditional.

    679
  386. My favorite holiday tune is GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER.
And I love Mary Corbett’s Needle ‘n Thread!

    682
  387. My favourite Christmas tune is “White Christmas”. Also my favourite Christmas movie. Why you ask, mostly because I grew up in California and never got to have snow on Christmas. Stationed all over in the Navy and never went anywhere with snow. But I have hope now that I live in Virginia. Snow, stitching and a nice cup of tea, what more could one ask for?

    684
  388. Thank you for all of your inspiration and generosity. I have always been interested in expanding my mostly experienced beginner level with embroidery and you have opened my eyes to a whole new world of embroidery techniques. In that vein I appreciate your generous offer of the Christmas giveaway. One can always use the items you referenced in your article. I can’t wait to see your finished space. I know it will be lovely.

BTW-my favorite Christmas tune is “Mary did you know.” I love all the hymns at Christmas.

    685
  389. Winter Wonderland is one of my favorites and the one that consistently comes to mind when I’m getting ready for Christmas.
Such a nice giveaway. Thanks, Mary

    686
  390. Always such beautiful , pretty and clean works of art, that are so inspirational and motivating.

    690
  391. “The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot” – it’s a real tearjerker, but my Mum loved it. She would sing it every year, while we begged her not to, all of us ending up crying and laughing at the same time. She died in 2015, and I would love to hear her singing it, laughing and crying, just one more time!

    691
  392. Have to go with Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is You but really there are so many to pick from.

    692
  393. I like a lot of Christmas songs. This year, with all the turmoil in the world, I think I like “I heard the bells on Christmas day.” Thanks for all your inspiration!

    695
  394. So many songs! Anything by TSO, Santa Baby by Ertha Kitt but ultimately it has to be Good King Wenceslaus. Why? Many reasons…1.) it’s a true story, 2.) it expresses a good way to live and 3.) it’s a Czech saint and I am part Czech and I have been to his tomb!

    696
  395. The beautiful Christmas song, The Little Drummer Boy always touches my heart. What a perfect little story it tells, so sweet and endearing. I have a Little Drummer Boy figurine for our nativity set which is a treasure.

Thank you for everything, Mary Corbet.

    699
  396. I love so many Christmas songs. A few of my favorites are Mary Did You Know, Oh Holy Night, and Silver Bells. Wishing you a blessed Christmas season. Teal

    Mary Did You Know?

    701

    702
  399. I have many Christmas songs I love, but every year I reach for the CD of White Christmas sung by The Drifters. It’s also on YouTube.

    703
  400. I agree Mary, it is hard to pick a favorite holiday song! When I was in the checkout line at a store today, a little girl around 9 years old started singing in the most angelic, on pitch voice, “Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells.” Everyone started smiling and I instantly felt in the Christmas spirit. So today my favorite tune is Jingle Bells, and thank you little girl, you made my day!

    705
  401. My favorite holiday carol is the “Sussex Mummers Carol” sung in the Washington DC Christmas Revels.

    706

  404. I can’t think of the name of it. “In the meadow we can build a snowman, and pretend that he is Parson Brown…”

    710
    1. “Winter Wonderland”. (I had to sing it starting with the line you quoted until I sang enough to remember the title. Haha!)

  405. Oh, I love Christmas music! My favorite (currently, it tends to change over time) is “Mary, Did You Know?”. Thank you so much for taking the time out of a VERY busy schedule to do this!

    715
  406. Darcy the Dragon by Roger Whittaker or Mary’s boy child are songs not heard over & over again in public. One is whimsical & the other touches the heart.

    718

    720
  408. There are so many that come to mind, but my all time favorite Christmas song is the carol, “Silent Night”. Not only are the words beautiful and inspiring, but it takes me back through the years to a little girl seated next to my Grandma holding a lit candle on Christmas Eve. One of my favorite memories of Christmas!

    721
  409. I like instrumentals of holiday music, preferably piano with strings. There’s something about their purity that brings great joy while I embroider

    723
  410. My favorite Christmas song is Adeste Fidelis. I learned it in Latin before I learned it in English. It still reminds me of going to mass with my grandmother at Christmas time.

    724
  411. I am evenly torn between O Come, O Come, Emmanuel and Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent. Both gorgeous and meaningful.
Blessed Advent, Mary and all Needle n’ Thread devotees who so celebrate!
    Linda

    725
  412. May God Bless you Mary. You have a pure heart. Thank you for taking your time and thinking about everyone else at this busy time of year for you, moving, getting settled, holidays. The Best Christmas song is Silent Night.

    726
  413. How very kind…
As one who celebrates Chanuka…I love the song “Ner Li”…and watching the wee flames against the large dark night sky…
    Thank you so…
    Vicki

    727
  414. Happy Day After Thanksgiving! I am so looking forward to the Christmas Holidays. My favorite Christmas song has to be “Oh Holy Night”. It gives me chills every time I hear it. I think it is just the beautiful melody that pulls at my heart.

    729
  415. Picking a favorite Christmas song is hard! I have to confess, however, that in odd moments I usually find myself singing “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” So I’m weird. But I would love to get that gift box!

    730
  416. My favorite Christmas song is JOY TO THE WORLD. By the time we sing this in church I am ready for some joy!
Let me say Merry Christmas and Joy to you!
    Merry Anne

    734
  417. It would be almost impossible for me to choose just one favorite thing, so I’ll be honest and say I love them all, just as I love any Christmas music!! It sure gets me in the Christmas Spirit! Love your blog, Mary and have been praying for your good health. May God bless you always!! Have a very Mary Christmas!!

    735

Impossible in sunny Queensland Australia! But I love Christmas songs for all the holiday time.

    738
  421. The Christmas Song —originally Merry Christmas Song pub 1945 by Mel Torme Chestnuts roasting on a open fire

My husband is our Christmas tree decorator because he is mr Christmas and I am kinda Scrooge. Johnny Mathis Christmas album always in the background. Always makes me smile to observe him doing his thing!

    739
  422. My favourite Holiday tune is “Star of the East,” preferably played on the saxophone. While in post-secondary education, a fellow student played it for a concert and I love the traditional tune and the saxophone just gives it a little panache!

    743
  423. My favourite Christmas tune is Mary’s Boy Child sung by Harry Belafonte or Charlotte Church.
Many thanks Mary for your wonderful website and your generosity in sharing your knowledge of all things embroidery. I have coffee with you every week!

    745
  425. It looks like my comment became a reply to someone else’s so I’ll post it again, please remove if it is just a glitch, don’t meant to enter twice!
    Last Christmas by Wham!

    746
  426. I have many favorite Christmas songs but the one that stirs my heart is The Christmas Song more commonly know as “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.” It was written the year before I was born and I love the music of the 1940’s. I especially like the version by Nat King Cole and when I hear it I feel the warmth of the “open fire” and I think of Christmases gone by.

    747
  427. I have been a subscriber for a good while. I have learned a lot and been able to improve my stitching. I have been sharing my work and teaching a stitch class at several of the retirement homes.
    Thanks

    748
  428. My favorite holiday tune is “Hark the Herald Angels Sing”. I like to sing it, too, much to my family’s chagrin. Too bad for them!

    749
  429. Oo, a tough choice! But as Advent begins tomorrow, I’m going to go with O Come, O Come, Emmanuel, as it so beautifully captures the longing for both the first and second comings of Christ.

    750
  430. Sarah McLachlan and Barenaked Ladies rendition of God Rest Ye Gentlemen is my favorite Christmas song. It is not played often on the radio but it is a constant on any Christmas playlist I use.

    751
  431. So many favourites to choose from, however the first to mind is Christmas carol is Good King Wenceslas!

    752
  432. I’m not sure of the actual name of the song, but I always enjoy the many different versions of “You’re a mean One Mr. Grinch”. It makes me smile every time I hear it!

    753
  433. My favorite Christmas tune “Adeste fidelis”. Use to sing it in my school choir in St Charles Illinois.
