For many years, we’ve been carrying a variety of ready-to-stitch cotton flour sack towel sets here on Needle ‘n Thread.
These sets of three high-quality cotton towels feature pre-transferred images in themed designs. Many of them are seasonal – we have Christmas towel sets, autumn towel sets, spring and summer sets – and some are general designs that work in any season.
The sets have been very popular over the years! And we understand why – we like stitching them, too!
The ready-to-stitch towels make great “relaxing” stitching projects, they leave plenty of room for personal adaption in color choice and stitches, they can be embroidered as simply or as extravagantly as you like, they make great gifts, they’re perfect teaching tools for yourself or for friends and family who want to learn to stitch…. the list goes on and on!
This year, we’ve decided to do something different with them, so I thought I better tell you about it now, before we get much deeper into the summer.

In the past, we’ve only listed the towel sets in our inventory once we had a large batch made up and ready to ship.
If we ran out of towel sets for any particular design, we would wait until we had enough requests to make up another batch of that design.
Now, we’re taking a different approach.
Or perhaps it’s better to say that we’re testing a different approach.
We’ve decided to prepare towel sets on demand. We have the blank towels ready, and once you order a set, we prepare it for shipping. Unless we have a Big Run on towel sets, the sets will ship within 2-3 days of your order.
I think this will avoid disappointing folks who want particular ready-to-stitch design sets, only to find that they are sold out until we can prepare another large batch.
This approach is similar to pre-ordering, in a way, except that we have all the components here in the shop. We don’t have to worry about the supply chain coming up short on our ingredients.
If you are interested in purchasing any of our ready-to-stitch towel sets, you’ll find them listed here in the shop. At this time, we have 16 different design sets, and we’ll be adding one more new set a little later this summer.
Each set comes with three pre-printed towels, ready to embroider. You choose your own colors and stitches.
And Other News
We’re also revamping our Stitch Snippet stitch-along project collection. We have a few Stitch Snippet kits still in stock – get them while you can! While we may be offering some of them in the future, those that we do offer will be in a different format. Once these kits that are in stock now are gone, then, they’re gone for good.

Right now, we have the following kits available:
The Christmas Mitten (ornament)
Purple Posy (tape measure cover)
Cornflower Scissor Case
Harvest Hues (autumn leaves) – on sale
Sweet Marguerite (whitework hemstitched linen) – on sale
You’ll find all five of these kits available on this page in the shop.
You’ll find the instructions for these kits available in stitch-along format here under Tips & Techniques in the main menu, in the first section titled “Hand Embroidery Lessons and Step-by-Step Projects.” Browse the list for the Stitch Snippet stitch-alongs!
And Yet More News
I have to be out of town next week, so that’s another reason I’m getting all this news out now, so that we can take care of any of your orders before next week. Anna will be minding the studio for the week, but work usually goes faster with four hands rather than two!
Coming up, we have a new book in store for you from Inspirations Studios, so I’ll show that to you in depth. The book is In Bloom by Ana Mullah, and I expect it to arrive in the studio this week. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s here!
I’ll also be reviewing other books that have been building up on my stack. It’s amazing how many books are available in the stitchery world these days! So I want to get those reviews posted for you.
We have the Garden Swirl (the stitch-along I told you about here) coming up. We should have the final components for the kits arriving by the end of next week, and then we’ll be ready to start. I’ll give you a little sneak peek of the final project next week, too!
Other than that, I’m just plugging away on new ideas, projects, and so forth that I’ll be sharing with you over the coming months.
Can you believe we’re already working on a couple Christmas delights for you? Somehow, 90 degrees and humid doesn’t put me in much of a Christmas mood!
See you Friday!
