Goldwork & Silk Christmas Ornament: Project Index

Amazon Books

A few weeks ago, I posted on my Facebook page a photo of a goldwork & silk embroidered Christmas ornament that I embroidered a looooooooong time ago!

In fact, I had completely forgotten about this little project (and its really bad photography – which unfortunately can’t be re-done). I came across the pictures of my stitching progress on it when digging through photos, in search a different picture altogether.

A few friends on Facebook asked for a list of articles for this project, and lo! I realized I never made an index for it. Tsk, tsk!

With Christmas a mere three months away, I wanted to make it available again for those of you who haven’t seen it and for stitchers looking for some ideas for embroidering or finishing a special Christmas ornament.

Goldwork & Silk Christmas Ornament Project Index

I’ve definitely learned a lot since I worked this particular project – not just about stitching and finishing, but also about photography, blogging, computer organization, and lots of other little nuances.

Still, I think many of the tips and techniques in this project could be helpful to embroiderers interested in goldwork, silk, or ornament finishing. You might find some ideas that will help with your stitching, and better yet, you can learn from my mistakes!

Goldwork & Silk Christmas Ornament – Article List

So here’s the list of articles on this Goldwork and Silk Christmas Ornament, from start to finish, in chronological order. I hope you find some use for them! And of course, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, you’re always welcome to leave them below.

You’ll find this project, along with all kinds of other projects, under Hand Embroidery Lessons & Step by Step Projects in Tips & Techniques for Embroidery on the main menu here on Needle ‘n Thread.

Hope you enjoy the browse and that the project – despite some shortcomings! – inspires you in one way or another!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Dear Mary

I remember the Christmas and Goldwork ornament it’s a lovely piece of work and beautifully stitched and a lovely present. I’ve just looked through the links and there are certainly lots of tips and techniques in the project to help us through the various stages of the project. Thanks for making the articles on this project available in one place for us all to view and for sharing again this lovely Christmas piece. I hope you have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks, Anita! I hope you have a great weekend, too! I’m planning on getting some stitching done – In fact, if I could get the paisley thing finished this weekend, I think I’d weep for joy. :-/ Might be a bit over-optimistic on that, though! I’m also hoping to get a little autumn outing in with a few of the nieces and nephews. We shall see!

  2. Mary thanks so much for these indexes! So easy to find things like that Hungarian Redwork project. I wished you come to my house and index everything. Then perhaps I could find what I’m looking for!

  3. If I were to try a new technique next year, I think gold work would be a good choice. I have tried most other types and have alway wanted to try gold work. I know Tanya Berlin’s work and it is amazing. It would be a cheery way to combat the dark winter days ahead.
